On 9th December, veterinarian Chad Marriott from Vetwest Currambine, will be competing in Ironman Western Australia to raise money for the Leukaemia Foundation. Ironman is a long distance triathlon comprising a 3.8km swim, 180km bike ride and a 42.2km run, and yes, this is all done on the same day! To prepare, Ironman Chad has been training for 6 months and his current regime involves 10 training sessions a week for a total of approximately 16 hours a week.

Chad has chosen to support the Leukaemia Foundation as one of his friends has recently been diagnosed with Leukaemia, and this has brought to his attention the wonderful work the Leukaemia Foundation does to help leukaemia patients and their families. Amongst other aspects the Leukaemia Foundation funds research, provides patients with information about their particular form of blood cancer and provides practical support such as counselling or assistance with transport, accommodation and child care, all of which can make a massive difference to a family going through a very tough time.
If you are interested in supporting Chad and the Leukaemia Foundation, donations can be made online and a receipt issued at http://www.everydayhero.com.au/chad_marriott, otherwise on your next visit to Vetwest Currambine feel free to ask Chad how his training is going.
