Dental care is one of the most important (and often overlooked) parts of your pet’s wellbeing. In fact, most dogs and cats over the age of three already have some level of dental disease, often without showing obvious signs at home. Because our pets are so good at hiding discomfort, dental issues can quietly progress before we even realise something is wrong.
Left untreated, dental disease can cause ongoing pain, infection, and even impact your pet’s overall health. That’s why taking a proactive, preventative approach can make such a difference—not just for their teeth, but for their quality of life.
What should you look out for?
Some of the early signs of dental disease can be subtle:
- Bad breath
- Yellow or brown build-up on the teeth
- Changes in eating habits or dropping food
- Red or sore-looking gums
If you’ve noticed any of these, or if it’s simply been a while since your pet’s last dental check, now is the perfect time to have a look.
