Originated from the state of Maine in the United States, the Maine Coon is one of the largest domestic cat breeds.

Appearance

The Maine Coon has a muscular body and strong legs, as well as a square muzzle and high cheek bones. Their most attractive feature is their long and furry tail, and of course their beautiful shaggy coat of fur. Most Maine Coons are tabby in colour.

Temperament

The Maine Coon is a busy-body type of breed that loves to discover anything and everything. They are highly intelligent and enjoy being around people, making them very ideal for companionship and as family pets.

Weight

Females – up to 6kg
Males – up to 8kg to 13kg

Grooming and care

Unlike the Persian’s coat, the Maine Coon has a soft-textured and glossy coat that is easy to maintain but requires brushing once a week to keep it nice and neat.
