Meet The Team
Dr Jessica Fawkes - Veterinarian
Jessica graduated from Murdoch University’s Vet School in 1991. She works exclusively in small animal practice and strives to stay current in an ever-changing and advancing profession.
Her experience includes several months as a volunteer veterinarian in the south Pacific, and a couple of years working in the UK, first as a new graduate and more recently for the 2009 and 2010 summers in northern England. She previously owned a successful veterinary clinic in Perth for 11 years before taking over the Rockingham Veterinary Clinic in 2011.
At home, Jessica has two dogs and Monty, an old Burmese cat who is the undisputed boss of the house. Jessica says, "When I'm not working, I enjoy reading, taking the dogs for walks, and cooking. I look forward to providing a caring and professional veterinary service to the Rockingham community for many years to come."
Dr Amber Leonard - Veterinarian
Amber graduated from the University of Queensland in 2010. She spent two years in Mount Gambier, SA in a small animal and exotics clinic before moving to Rockingham in January 2013.
Amber says, "My interests in vet practice include ophthalmology, dermatology, birds, exotics and behavioural medicine. I have two dogs, BMO and Jimmy. When I'm not at work, I like reading, playing computer games, going to the gym and, of course, taking the two dogs to the beach."
Claire Webling - Practice Manager and Veterinary Nurse
• Degree in Animal Behaviour and Welfare
I qualified as a veterinary nurse in England and worked there as a veterinary nurse for 8 years. I then came over to Perth and started my career with Vetwest in 2016 working at Vetwest Mandurah.
Along with my nursing qualifications, I also have a degree in Animal Behaviour and Welfare and have a passion for puppy socialisation and behaviour.
I moved to Perth with my husband, 2 young daughters and my black labrador Comit. I also share my home with 2 cats Nemo and Olaf, which I have adopted from Vetwest. I am loving the outdoor way of life here, and enjoy taking my family to the beach and going camping.
Wendy Braddow - Veterinary Nurse
Wendy completed her nursing studies at Polytechnic West in 2010. Wendy worked in a vet hospital for two years in Perth before joining the Rockingham Vet Clinic team in 2012. Wendy lives in Rockingham.
Wendy says, "I really enjoy the varied nature of my work – it could, for example, involve nursing unwell pets, giving advice to pet owners about pet dental care or nutrition, supporting vets in surgery, and working with the team to ensure a caring, quality environment for pets & their owners.
"I like running, swimming, camping & travelling- often accompanied by my very sociable & energetic dog Cassie."
Danniell Strickland - Veterinary Nurse
Danniell says, "I really like coming to work, and I particularly enjoy taking care of the pets in surgery, monitoring anaesthetics & assisting the vets.
"I have two cats Abby and Onyx, a dog Luna and a 2 year old son. In my spare time, I enjoy reading and cross stitch."
Elisha Blackie - Veterinary Nurse
In my spare time I love baking, playing netball & reading. I have a beautiful 10 month old son & we share our home with 3 cats; Robbie, Delilah & Arnold.
Samantha Cram - Veterinary Nurse
Sam says, "I thoroughly enjoy every aspect of my job. Animals are and always have been my passion. Every day is different and it keeps me on my toes. I have a puppy named Bandit. In my spare time I enjoy taking Bandit on adventures, travelling, reading and playing sony.”
