From the age of four, I knew I wanted to be a vet—long before I could spell “stethoscope!”. My parents bred and showed Cavalier King Charles Spaniels, so I spent much of my childhood surrounded by animals and tagging along to vet visits. I’ve never dreamed of doing anything else, and to this day I still feel incredibly lucky to have turned my passion into a lifelong career.
I graduated from the University of Edinburgh with distinction in 2010, and after a short stint volunteering with street dogs and cats in Thailand, I settled into a busy 24-hour veterinary hospital in the North East of England. There, I completed a Postgraduate Certificate in Small Animal Medicine and was awarded Advanced Practitioner status by the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons in 2016. That same year, I was promoted to Clinical Director—a role that gave me the opportunity to not only lead the whole veterinary team but also get involved in the day-to-day running of the hospital. I took on everything from supporting clinical standards and mentoring new grads to helping manage finances, staffing, and patient care systems. I loved being able to help shape the clinic’s culture and ensure we delivered consistently high-quality care to both pets and their people.
I’ve always had a strong interest in complex internal medicine cases—particularly cardiology, gastroenterology, and endocrine disease—and I also have a soft spot for our senior patients, with a focus on preventative healthcare, geriatric medicine, and palliative care.
In 2019, my family and I made the move to sunny Western Australia. Since then, I’ve been part of the team at Vetwest Hillarys, where I work full-time. I’m passionate about forming strong, trusting relationships with both my patients and their owners and always aim to make visits as calm, kind, and compassionate as possible.
Outside of work, life is busy and full! I’m mum to my beautiful daughter Charlotte, and we share our home with my husband (a talented chef—thankfully, because I’m a terrible cook!) and our much-loved lurcher, Flynn. Most of my spare time currently is spent supporting Charlotte’s many hobbies. When I get a quiet moment, I enjoy listening to true crime podcasts, travelling, watching a great series on Netflix (feel free to recommend one when you meet me!), and exploring the beautiful outdoors of Perth
I know how much our pets mean to us – they are family – and I consider it a real privilege to be part of their care.
